FLIGHT OPERATIONS TRAINING COURSES FOR COCKPIT CREW

Pilots need to fly safely under a broad range of conditions, make the right decisions even in emergencies, and – along the way – keep pace with the latest technological developments in the cockpit. Regular training under realistic conditions is essential in achieving this.

Our Air Operator specific Training Modules ensure your pilots are ideally prepared for new working environments and challenges. Some of these flight operations training courses are a component of the type rating test as prescribed by the EASA. Others serve to increase the safety and efficiency of your airline’s flight operations.

Multicrew Cooperation (MCC)

Our Multicrew Cooperation course is designed for pilot crews that have not yet had any experience in a two-person cockpit and is carried out pursuant to EASA Part-FCL.735.A.

The training course is divided into theoretical lessons and practical exercises in the full flight simulator. During the course, our experienced trainers teach primarily non-technical skills for working in a multicrew cockpit, with a focus on decision-making and problem-solving skills, communication skills, delegating tasks within a team, and the use of checklists. There is no skills test as part of this course. The course can be carried out in combination with an initial type rating or as a stand-alone course.

Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT)

Flight conditions in the borderline zones not only require precise knowledge of the type-specific characteristics of an aircraft or an aircraft class, but also demand that pilots have various physical and physiological skills to be able to resolve a situation of control loss effectively and with a level head. In our Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) courses, experienced trainers teach pilots the skills necessary to maintain a stable flight attitude even under difficult conditions, or to restore it as soon as possible.

The course consists of a theoretical portion, which is carried out as a web- or computer-based training session, or also in a classroom setting. The practical portion takes place in type-specific full flight simulators and challenges the pilots with various emergency scenarios.

Performance-Based Navigation (PBN)

Performance-Based Navigation is primarily concerned with scenarios in which pilots need to go without ground-supported navigation (VOR, NBD, ILS) and rather relying increasingly on the use of satellite navigation. The main advantage of PBN is that it reduces fuel consumption thanks to shorter routes and thus minimizes emissions.

The Performance-Based Navigation course teaches participants about the specific PBN areas and requirements and is divided into theoretical and practical portions.

Head-Up Guidance System Training (HUD/HGS)

Head-up displays (HUD) and head-up guidance systems (HGS) serve to enable pilots to keep their eyes on the most important flight information without having to look down at the instrument panel. Our training course teaches pilots how to handle the head-up displays and head-up guidance systems of various aircraft types.

This course includes both theoretical and practical portion (full flight simulator) segments. The training course is mandatory if head-up displays or head-up guidance systems are used in flight operations. The pilots then need to demonstrate their skills in using the equipment as part of the type rating skills test.

Extended Twin-Engine Operations (ETOPS)

It is in airlines’ interest to plan routes as directly as possible between two cities, even if these traverse open ocean or inaccessible terrain without an airport nearby. For these so-called ETOPS flights, the EASA has established additional regulations for flight plans and for decision-making during the flight. We teach your pilots these regulations in a hands-on, expert ETOPS course.

The participants first learn the most important theoretical aspects of ETOPS within the framework of the ground course. The pilots then demonstrate two ETOPS scenarios in the full flight simulator for the practical portion of the course.

All-Weather Operations (AWO)

Poor visibility during landing demands precise familiarity with the onboard equipment and instruments as well as the flight characteristics of the corresponding aircraft type. In our All-Weather Operations course, your pilots acquire flight approach certification under CAT II or CAT III weather conditions. In the theoretical lessons, participants learn about aircraft and ground equipment as well as standard operating procedures. The practical phase involves exercises in a variety of weather conditions and onboard equipment failures. The central components of the course are multilevel practical training in a full flight simulator, e-learning courses, and system basics, as well as normal and abnormal procedures.

COMMAND TRAINING

Our command training is to ensure the smooth transition of your pilots to the left-hand seat. The courses are designed with your specific operator and legal requirements and includes theoretical and practical modules (full flight simulator).

After successful completion of the command course, your pilots will shall have the proficiency, skill and knowledge to perform the Line Flying Under Supervision (LIFUS) part of the Command Upgrade Course.
